Dataselfie

Data can come from everywhere. Everytime you click something online, like a post or buy something from a webstore data is created. This data is then used to recommend, sort and filter different kinds of things for you. This is how computers know what kind of movies you might like or tell you need to leave for school on time.

Let’s learn more about data with this dataselfie exercise. First, add five videos you’ve watched. Four things you’ve liked or given thumbs up. Three things you’ve searched online. Two places you’ve been with a phone. And finally, one person you’ve messaged with.

What do you think computers use that data for? What would a video streaming service use it for? What could a toy company use it for? How can websites use data to find out more about their users?
