Using Hello Ruby in your work
Yay, we are really happy that you’re excited about Hello Ruby! You are welcome to hold workshops, classroom events or local library programs using our assets. Below are some guidelines on what you’re encouraged to do with the Hello Ruby materials. Psst, remember to share with #helloruby on social media!
Organizing an event, workshop or camp using Hello Ruby assets
You can:
- Mention Hello Ruby in the marketing of your event: e.g. “Coding workshop at Public Library X – Using material from ‘Hello Ruby: Adventures in Coding’”.
- Use pictures of Hello Ruby in the marketing material, while following our brand guidelines.
- Create some new material based on Hello Ruby for your own and the participants’ use at your (free of charge!) event. For example, you could create a new exercise based on the book, or tweak or translate an existing exercise to another language!
Please don’t:
- Use Hello Ruby brand assets as the single marketing material of your event: e.g. name the event “Hello Ruby: Adventure in Coding workshop at Public Library X”.
- Forget to mention that Hello Ruby as a company is not involved in your event (when we are not).
- Host a paid event while using Hello Ruby as the single or main source of material!
- Sell the material you created based on Hello Ruby for your event.
Creating new material based on Hello Ruby for your workshop, classroom or club.
You can:
- Build upon our work, tweak or remix Hello Ruby materials.
- Share your work based on Hello Ruby. We’d love to see what you’ve created!
As long as you:
- Share for free! Non-commercial purposes only allowed.
- Give appropriate credit and mention what changes you made.
- Keep it within reasonable limits – a few exercises or lesson plans are fine, but if you’re working on a whole workbook’s full of materials, please check with us first!
